Princess Pamela had a hard time when Walter Lightbright told her that she would have to change her choices to keep everyone safe. Change can be hard, but this game helped Princess Pamela and we hope it helps you too! Don’t forget to use your empathy and your self control!

Directions:

Have the participants spread out around the room.
Tell your players, “When I clap my hands, I want you to change the way you are standing or sitting. (Give a short demonstration of various poses. These can be big or small) Listen carefully, when I stop Clapping, I want you to freeze.“
Begin to clap your hands, slowly increase your speed. (Be careful to make your claps Separate so the players are creating frozen pictures and not a flowing movement.) Then stop clapping.
Tell the players, “I want you to think about how your body is posed right now. Think about what sort of person or an animal might stand or sit in this way. For example, if you had your arms above your head and one foot up in front of you, you might decide that one character who would stand that way would be a dancer or ballerina.”
Give them a moment to each choose a character, and then tell your students to move around the room like their characters would.
Freeze them again.
Have each player show and explain their own movement to the rest of the group.

Expansions:

If players keep making up people, challenge them to making up an animal next time. (and vise versa)
During the character walk, have players come up with background stories about their characters (example: my character walks with a limp because he/she is an older person who was in the circus).
Challenge players to interact with other characters moving around the room, first non-verbally, then verbally.
