| Teaching Company Positions There are two positions in the Teaching Company: Team Lead and Team Member. Team Leads Team Leads co-conduct classes; choose lesson plans; give feedback to the Team Member; make a confirmation call to each school they visit, plan and direct rehearsals; compile a comprehensive record of each residency; and organize paperwork for the team.
Writing Team Leads Writing Team Leads are Team Leads who, in addition to the typical responsibilities of a Team Lead, also create or revise lesson plans for their teams or other teams in the company.
Qualifications: Team Leads must either hold a college degree or be a former Teaching Company Team Member. Strong Team Lead candidates have typically spent a significant period of time working interactively with young people in organized settings. Training in Creative Drama, Theatre In Education, or Theatre of the Oppressed is a plus, but is not necessary.
Team Members: Team Members assist in the preparation for each program; co-conduct classes; choose props, costumes, and music for classes; attend rehearsals scheduled and directed by the Team Lead and contribute input on the conduct and planning of classes. Team Members also contact local newspapers and TV stations to inform them of CLIMB’s upcoming visit.
Qualifications: Team Members who have graduated from college or university must be strong performers capable of playing multiple characters in a short span of time. Strong Team Member candidates have enthusiasm for working interactively with young people. Experience with children is a plus, but is not necessary.
