Self-Control Classes (PreK-6)

Self-control is a vital skill to maintaining an effective learning environment. CLIMB’s classes teach students how to master it!

K-2 Educational Objectives

1. To define self-control.
2. To practice self-control while sitting with a group.
3. To practice hand-raising instead of interrupting.
4. To brainstorm ways to remedy losing self-control.
5. To remind students of their best qualities.

3-6 Educational Objectives

1. To define self-control.
2. To teach students the self-control steps: stop, think, what could happen?, is that what you want?
3. To practice avoiding a loss of self-control.
4. To encourage students to worry about their own actions and not those around them.

CLIMB offers three classes about self-control–one for preschoolers, one for grades K-2, and one for grades 3-6. Each class is age-appropriate and carefully crafted to help students learn how to develop and display self-control. Through role-playing, scenes, games, and discussions, students will practice thinking before they act and taking responsibility for the way their actions impact themselves, each other, and the school environment.
