Flashback, Trash!, Toadilly Turtle and HuggerTree MeTopic: Environmental Conservation
Grade Level: K-2
These plays delightfully motivate students to protect our lakes and wetlands and to practice energy conservation, and the Three Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. CLIMB has found funding for performances of these plays from a variety of government agencies that have money to spend on environmental education. CLIMB found funding in Minnesota. KEY Players found funding in North Carolina. In both cases, county environmental agencies purchased large blocks of performances which were then performed at minimal or no cost to the schools. Take-home letters and teacher activity and discussion guides are also provided.

Anyone who has ever been in a middle school knows why this play is so popular. It addresses the harassment that permeates the halls and lunchrooms of nearly every middle school in America. Very simple sets and costumes make this play very easy to mount.

Little Plays for Little PeopleLooking for great plays for little kids? Consider these adapted classic tales for audiences of 3-8 year-olds. Each two- to three-person script is about 30 minutes in length and brilliantly incorporates audience participation in such a way that the children’s actions are integral to the script’s advancement. CLIMB has performed these plays hundreds of times on stage and on tour to thousands of attentive and delighted little ones.
Ugly Duckling
Growing up can feel happy, sad, scary, exciting, and confusing. And sometimes it can hurt. Being an "ugly duckling" and facing the taunts and teasing of others may hurt some children so badly that they never do become the beautiful swans they were meant to be. This adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen tale helps 3-8 year old youngsters understand, look for, and value inner (as opposed to outer) beauty - in themselves and others.

The Golden Touch
Greedy King Midas’ quest for riches almost robs him of his daughter, Marigold. In CLIMB’s version of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s story, the analogy to modern day adults addicted to drugs, alcohol, or work could be helpful to the child struggling to understand these issues.

The Enchanted Fish
In this tale, a magic fish grants a poor fisherman a wish. The fisherman, who values love, friendship and self-respect, wants nothing more than what he already has, but his wife wants everything, and more! Based on Grimm's fairy tale, this adaptation of The Fisherman and His Wife gives little ones insight into the destructive nature of greed.

The Elves and the Shoemaker
Once again, Emile's bragging has gotten him in trouble. He said he could make all the shoes the Queen could ever need, but how can he make 100 pairs of shoes overnight? Children in the audience help out as they become Emile's troupe of sprightly elves, learn his magic formula for making shoes, and step in to save the day.

Smart About Strangers
Empowering children to be stranger-safe without filling them with fear is the goal of this entertaining, original play about a serious matter. Silly Gilly, a very energetic Norwegian Gillywhistle, encounters a variety of strangers who use various lures to get the young bird to go with them. Through these encounters, Silly Gilly and the children in the audience learn a set of easy-to-follow rules about strangers. Lots of audience participation, rhythm, repetition, and fun-filled action make the rules easy to remember and simple to practice.
